Fabulous Foods for Backpacking: Pumpkin Pie

Pumpkin Pie Recipe

One 29 oz. can prepared pumpkin or raw pumpkin puree
One 14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk, ( or 3/4 cup almond, soy, or rice milk plus 2-3 Tablespoons of the sweetener of your choice)
1 – 2 Tablespoons Garam Masala spice blend or Pumpkin Pie spice or equivalent

Blend all ingredients together and spread evenly up to ¼” thick on Teflon sheets.  Dehydrate at 145 – 150⁰F  since this is a cooked food that requires heat for safe preparation.  Lower temperature would encourage mold and bacteria.  Dehydrate Cooked foods separate from raw foods.

  1. Hi Regina,

Love this series of videos! About how many trays does 1 recipe of the pumpkin pie mix cover at the approximately 1/4 inch thickness?
